We’ve partnered with a rental fleet in Japan to make exploring the country by bike easier than ever. Three distinct models. One simple goal: give every rider the right machine for the road ahead.

2. The Road Performance model is made for speed. Lightweight, responsive, and precise, it’s the choice for riders chasing long climbs, flowing descents, and pure performance on the tarmac.

3. Available in flat-bar and drop-bar models, the E-Bike provides smooth, reliable assistance to help riders travel farther, tackle more elevation, and experience more of Japan.

MPORTANT: JAPANESE BRAKE SETUP

Rental bikes in Japan use the local brake configuration and are required by Japanese law:

• Right lever: front brake

• Left lever: rear brake

This is the reverse of the standard North American setup. Before riding, test both brakes at low speed and become familiar with the lever configuration—particularly before descending or riding on wet roads.

ALL-ROAD

The All-Road—Japan’s most common rental option—pairs a Shimano GRX Di2 1x12 drivetrain with wide-range gearing and 35mm or 40mm semi-slick tires.

The fleet includes 15 carbon and titanium bikes in 47cm, 51cm, 55cm, and 59cm sizes. Depending on the bike, the cassette’s largest rear cog is 46T or 50T, providing lower gearing for steep climbs.

The larger 700c tires combine a fast-rolling center with knobby shoulder lugs for comfort, stability, and cornering grip. A relaxed riding position and stable handling make this model well suited to Japan’s narrow lanes, wet roads, broken pavement, steep climbs, and light gravel.

CARBON ROAD

The Carbon Road model is a lightweight, performance-focused bike built for paved routes, long climbs, and fast descents. The fleet includes 12 bikes in 48cm, 52cm, 54cm, 56cm, and 58cm sizes.

Each bike features a monocoque T-1000 carbon frame, integrated cockpit and cable routing, carbon wheels, hydraulic disc brakes, and a Fizik or Selle Royal saddle.

The Shimano 2x12 Di2 drivetrain pairs a compact 50/34T crankset with an 11–36T rear cassette, providing closely spaced road gearing with sufficient range for steep climbs in the Japanese Alps.

Its lower riding position and responsive handling are best suited to experienced riders who prioritize speed, efficiency, and traditional road-bike performance.

FLAT-BAR E-BIKE

The Specialized Turbo Vado SL 4.0 combines a lightweight aluminum frame, upright flat-bar position, and smooth SL 1.1 motor assistance for comfortable, controlled riding.

The fleet includes six bikes in small, medium, and large sizes. Each bike comes with a range extender for day trips of up to 100km, while stable handling and hydraulic disc brakes provide added control on Japan’s steep climbs, narrow roads, and changing conditions.

DROP-BAR E-BIKE

The Elektra Series is a premium, full-carbon All-Road e-bike built for long days, steep climbs, and lightweight touring. Depending on the bike, the drivetrain features Shimano Di2 XT/GRX or Q’Auto wireless shifting, with wide-range gearing up to 11–46T.

The compact Bafang M820 motor delivers 80Nm of torque across four configurable support modes. Its 360Wh battery provides extended range, while the lightweight 2.3kg motor maintains a natural ride feel with minimal resistance above the assistance limit.

The drop-bar fleet includes 10 bikes, with two available in each of the following sizes: 44cm, 48cm, 52cm, 54cm, and 58cm.
